Ryan and Julie are the founders of Hideout Ministries. They have lived in Colorado with their two daughters, Katie (20) and Jessica (18) for 20 years and will now be found putting roots down in North Carolina. Ryan has been in full-time ministry for 22 years. He served as a youth pastor and worship leader for three years before he returned to Christian camping as the Executive Director of Quaker Ridge Camp and Conference Center for nine years. Currently they co-own Cottage Creek Living, building homes to provide income for Hideout Ministries. Ryan and Julie have considered it a joy to serve in the local church. Ryan has served as a shepherding elder and Julie as a listener, teacher, and encourager to women. Through deep valleys and defining deserts Christ has carried this fragile family, breathing into them encouragement, hope, and their very life. One of the results has been a heart pounding passion to build "The Hideout" a small intimate retreat center for missionary couples. Here they desire to provide a safe place for them to meet with Jesus and receive restoration for their souls so they can continue serving around the world.
We care for the hearts that serve others for the sake of souls around the world.
Ryan and Julie founded Hideout Ministries ten years ago after spending time listening to missionaries, realizing the vital need to come alongside and care for those who are serving around the world. We provide a safe place for them to share their stories, process their pain, meet with Jesus and receive restoration. They need encouragement to care for the needs of their own souls so they can in turn continue the work they have been called to back on their fields. The soul health of the missionary directly affects the health of their ministries which is why it is so very important to care for them!
1. We are in the midst of major transition as we move to North Carolina January 1! Many details and much to process as this has been our home for 20 years. Please pray for the strength and discernment to accomplish all that must be done in the next three months.
2. Provision as we begin to build the cottage for missionaries on our land at Lake James. Wisdom as we make many decisions about the details as God leads us in this project.
3. Provision of additional individual and church partners as we seek to care for these missionaries through the building of The Hideout.
4. Pray for missionaries to feel permission to care for their hearts and the hearts of their families. Longing for them to hear the invitation to live a Soulful life: engaged with the heart of the Father, connected to the Vine receiving life from Jesus, and free as they keep in step with the Spirit.
Here is the invitation from Jesus:
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me--watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)
