Darrell & Annette Dooyema

Director of Young Staff and our Edge Corps internship program for the National Leadership Team for The Navigators International Student Ministry

“The Navigators International Student Ministry engages with students from 72 different nations in 46 different locations across the U.S. These international sojourners represent millions of people in their home countries and will return home to impact their family and relational networks—touching every facet of society and the world with the gospel of Christ.”

Darrell and his wife, Annette, minister among International Students as a part of The Navigators in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Annette (Scott) grew up attending WPCC with her family and worked as a youth intern while a student. Together, Darrell & Annette direct a summer training program in Skjolden, Norway, where college students from the U.S., Norway and many other countries come to explore difficult questions of faith, gain missions experience, and grow in their walk with Jesus (see: www.elvheim.no). Darrell also occasionally teaches as an adjunct professor of Philosophy and enjoys the chance to help students think about the ultimate questions of life. Their greatest joy (and most exciting challenge) are their three young children, Dylan (13), Jared (9), and Eva Alice (7).

We live in Colorado Springs during the school year where we minister among international students at Colorado College.  During the summers, we lead a multi-national discipleship program in Skjolden, Norway.  Darrell also travels both nationally and internationally to speak and teach on Apologetics and Discipleship. Click here for more information about the Norway Summer Training Program at Elvheim.

We enjoy the joys and challenges of crossing multiple cultures and helping others do the same. See this humorous video about crossing cultures and ministering to international students!

We feel that God has called us, gifted us, and given us the great privilege of working among students from many nations.  Revelation 7:9 describes the scene in heaven of every tribe, tongue, and nation gathering before the Lord.  We get to experience a small taste of this multi-national vision while working with international students.  The prophecy of Isaiah 55:5 is being fulfilled in our day on the college campuses of our country: “Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations you do not know will come running to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.”  We sense the urgency of reaching out with the Gospel to these nations while they are gathered here in our own communities and we see the strategic importance of these students in reaching the world for Christ.

Prayer Requests:

-Pray for God’s provision as our children grow up and responsibilities increase.

-Pray for our children to walk faithfully with Jesus and gain a heart for the world.

-Pray for wisdom as we evaluate various invitations to serve around the world.

-Pray for a new generation of young disciples, focused on reaching international

students.

-Pray as we reach out to a new group of international students this Fall.

Other Needs:

-With all our family travels, the gift of Air Miles can always be of aid!

-Our family is considering a second car as our responsibilities increase.

-We need 10-15 new monthly donors to meet current budget needs.

-Amazon gift cards to purchase books/materials for summer program, young staff training, and personal development are always welcome.

-While in Norway, our home was damaged in the summer hail.  While insurance will cover much of the bill, we will likely have at least a $2000 deductible to pay this Fall when our roof and deck are replaced.
