All Church Picnic at Memorial Park

August 29, 2010 from 12pm to 4pm

Come join us for our annual all church picnic. We will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, buns and lemonade. Please bring a side dish or dessert that serves at least 8 people to share. We will have volleyball games, booths, relay games (some may involve water so wear the right clothing :-) ) and our puppet friends will be paying us a visit for a special performance. Bring your own chairs and we will see you right after our one service (don't forget it's at 10:00 AM).

Profile Information

Are you a member of the church or just visiting?: I am a member of Woodland Park Community Church

What type of work do you do?: I am head of customer service with a uniform rental company

If you are comfortable in sharing..... What is your story of seeking/ knowing Jesus Christ?: Although I grew up in the church & my father was a pastor, I never realized my need for Christ until I was 15 years old. It was then I really heard the gospel message for the first time & saw how it had changed the lives of others. In my early 20s, I started to fall away from the Lord. But like the Good Shepherd, His sheep know his voice, & God herded me back into the fold. Today, I commit my music, my energy, my life to Christ. I make an effort to display my life as an example to fellow workers, neighbors & others with whom I am in contact, that they see Christ in me.

List any of your personal interests or hobbies so we can know you better: My passion is in music. I enjoy singing & used to be a choir director. I have written praise & worship music. The instruments I play are piano, keyboard, guitar, banjo, ukelele, & harmonica. I enjoy listening to classical music & contemporary Christian music. Currently I am on WPCC's praise & worship team on the keyboard. I also love kids & teach 3rd & 4th grade Sunday School. I also enjoy hiking & long walks. I love going on dates with my wife. You may think this is wierd for a guy: I enjoy reading Christian romances.

If married and or have any kids please tell us about them?: I am married to Cindy. We were married on 3/1/1986. She is my best friend. Because of medication she takes for her heart, she is unable to have children. We have 2 adopted daughters: Alyssa (b 1993) & Anna (b 1999). Cindy also has a passion for kids. She home schools our children, teaches a Breakout class, teaches "Bees" Sunday school class (preschoolers) and is a mentor mom for MOPS (Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers).

Alyssa is quite an evangelist who came to know the Lord at age 2. She is concerned for where others are spiritually. Alyssa wants to be a missionary & has served on a short term mission trip in Brazil & will go on another short term mission trip this summer (2010) to Thailand. She is also on the WPCC praise & worship team. She loves worship dance & even taught a worship dance class with a home school enrichment group. Alyssa is also involved on the leadership team for Summit (High School Youth Group) & helps leading in Journey (Middle School Youth Group).

Anna came to know the Lord at age 3 & enjoys puppet ministry & Breakout where she has gained spiritual growth & is memorizing scripture. Anna is a high energy girl who loves riding her bike & makes friend easily.

If you are part of our community, what's your favorite thing about our fellowship?: Worshipping the Lord is what I love. Being with other believers in corporate worship is always the high point of my week. It is what attracted me to WPCC.

What are you reading?: I have recently been reading historical novels by Lynn Austin & Dee Gist, who are both Christian authors. The time periods in these novels are anywhere from Early Colonial to the Civil War era to the Great Depression.

What are you passionate about?: My wife, Cindy, music. Kids. Telling others about Jesus.
