Are you a member of the church or just visiting?: Member

What type of work do you do?: Retired/disabled

If you are comfortable in sharing..... What is your story of seeking/ knowing Jesus Christ?: After a lifetime of being taught man's dogma regarding Christianity, I am now on a journey of learning the Truth of God's Word as it was given to us in the Bible, without the interpretations and distortions that tend to drive folks away from God because they always end up looking hypocritical. I'm also seeking to learn what God wants me to know regarding fellowship with other people, and to strengthen my spirituality through friendships with other Christians.

List any of your personal interests or hobbies so we can know you better: I enjoy movies, casual dinners/lunches out with friends, anything outdoors (though my outdoor activity has become limited in the past few years due to spinal injuries), and I adore dogs and everything about dogs. I've been training dogs, and rescuing and rehoming abandoned dogs for decades. Recently I've begun discovering one to three other disabled folks a year who can benefit from having a service dog, and I donate my time and expertise toward helping these people train their own dog(s) to provide services that would help them live more enjoyable, independent lifestyles.

If married and or have any kids please tell us about them?: It's just me and my two dogs - Molly, a fully trained service dog I got when she was 5 years old (2004) and trained myself, and Magnum - a Sheltie I rescued as a pup in 2005 and whom I am training to give Molly some relief as she ages and tires more easily. I have a grown daughter in her 30s who lives in Texas, but more than 15 years of addiction to crystal methamphetamine on her part has created a chasm between her and her family members that I pray daily will some day come to an end, so she can put all she has learned from these many years of suffering to use doing God's work.

If you are part of our community, what's your favorite thing about our fellowship?: The women's ministry and many classes and spiritual learning opportunities are exactly the answers to my prayers -- I had been asking God where I should settle down after becoming disabled with no job to determine my geographic location, and He led me here.

What are you reading?: Various novels by Francine rivers
The Bible (NIV study version)
"Chronicles of the Kings" series (5 books) by Lynn Austin
Dean Koontz & Stephen King novels now and then
Whatever books come my way via study classes at church

What are you passionate about?: Abandoned/abused/neglected animals needing loving homes; and abandoned/abused/neglected teens needing someone to believe in them.
