Alyssa ... I'm leading next summer's Honduras trip (July 6 to July 13). Last year was my very first mission trip and it changed my life. This trip is perfect for young folks like yourself to gain mission experience and grow in your walk with the Lord.

Love you Alyssa. Remember that whether we walk to the left or to the right we will hear a voice saying, This is the way, walk in it. It's God's voice, the one that sings over us and quiets us with His love. I pray that the Spirit will intercede for your heart today and that God will reach down and give you a big HUG!

Aww thanks! yeah this is the pre-auditions in the springs this sat... if you win, you have a guaranteed spot to audition before an American Idol producer when they come to Denver in July... :) I want to get a feel for what the July auditions will be like, so I'm doing this one too... plus, you win prizes and stuff! Fun! :)

Profile Information

Are you a member of the church or just visiting?
I'm a member.. either that or I've been visiting for the past three years! :):)
What type of work do you do?
School work!
If you are comfortable in sharing..... What is your story of seeking/ knowing Jesus Christ?
That one could take a while.. and I'm only halfway through my story in its entirety! Maybe not even half.
I've always, for as long as I can remember, been a Christian. I was quite the evangelist when I was a kid, my catholic friends (I lived in a almost totally mexican neighborhood from the time I was seven to almost fourteen) and I would examine their bible and my bible and talk about it instead of playing Barbies like normal kids. I don't know why, or how... but as I grew older I started falling away in a sense. It was no longer fun for me. I didn't really want to be a Christian. I was totally different on Sundays than on weekdays.. it was a slippery slope. One day I was just 'eh' about God and the next I hated Him.. my friends and many of the personal choices I made didn't help. I struggled for a long time..
My life really started changing for the better when my parents started going through the adoption process again. We were all soo excited- then it totally fell through. No baby. The birth mom was gone. I was heartbroken. A week or so later, my mom made me go on a weekend retreat to Desperation youth conference @ New Life in the Springs with my youth group. I was determined to be miserable... and ended up coming back totally in love with God.
It's been a long road since. Staying on the right path is definitely not easy. I've slipped a lot, but the cool thing about God is that he always has the time to listen and help you back up.. isn't He just amazing? haha.
So yeah! There you go!!
List any of your personal interests or hobbies so we can know you better
I love writing!! I do it all the time- journaling, blogging, novel-writing, short stories, poetry, essays... It's so much fun!! :) I also love to sing, read, and dance- I was a ballerina for close to ten years, and now I spend my Thursday mornings teaching a ballet/worship dance class up in Lake George, which is one of my passions. I also totally enjoy helping out with our church's Middle School youth program. Loving on those little buggers (lol) is something God's really put on my heart. Crocheting, acting, babysitting, laughing, and learning everything I can about ancient history make me tick as well! haha.
If married and or have any kids please tell us about them?
Not yet, but I do have a wonderful guy in my life who I'm courting right now. :):):)
If you are part of our community, what's your favorite thing about our fellowship?
Oh, I LOVE the worship. Every time I step into the sanctuary, it's like a load's dropped off my back. And I love how historically informative Kirk's sermons can be (Just a me thing, I guess) as well as how I keep learning new concepts and finding new verses every Sunday!
What are you reading?
Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott, and this thing called The Holy Bible. Have you heard of it? It rocks:)
What are you passionate about?
Dance, writing, music, singing, middle schoolers, laughing, serving, making others smile. In no particular order:)

I'm tired and worn out and yet so young. My life has barely even started, and yet I cannot count the times I've been ready and willing for it to end. And I'm not alone.

This is the American tragedy. As our country takes bigger strides towards being the world's help-meet, the more it turns a blind eye to the filth, corruption, and pain growing and festering within. More and more people are passed by the more our ego grows. We are supposed to be the perfect nation, the one all others look up… Continue

How on earth can we be silent?? By A.J.S, written today (Feb. 14th, 2009)

“How can we be silent?”

We have been called the mosaic generation. We take information on one subject from a million different sources and piece together our own version of reality.

What’s scary is how much of that reality is actually just plain fantasy- wishful thinking mixed with lies that ends up burning us eventually.

There are over six billion people in the world, roughly. And one third of that number are people ages thirteen to nineteen. That’s a LOT of teenagers. In… Continue
