So the retreat is near!!! This Friday, in fact. It starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Church and then we will meet out at Camp Elim at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday--lunch provided. Cost $35

We have almost 40 women coming....let's make it 50! Invite your friends! A personal invitation is better than an e-mail invitation!

Janie,
That's a great idea! Great!! I'll send a message to Angel Smith, Todd Zeller, Kelley Leigh and see if we can get something up and running. In the meantime, for anyone reading this that wants help and wants to serve, just post your needs anywhere, and let's serve each other well.

"Physical Labor Swap Meet" post -- Sep. 17, 2009 posted to Women's Community

I've been wondering about starting a website group here where people can post "non-emergency" needs... Not necessarily an "emergency need" such as the group that already exists on the list, but still an essential need that folks just don't know what to do about.

For example, people who are physically limited (temporarily or permanently) might have a one-time need getting their brush cleared for fire-safety, or free/low-cost help with grass mowing or snow clearing; someone who has had an unexpected illness or injury in the family might need short-term help with meals, housecleaning, childcare, transportation to appointments, etc.

Then there are those who would love to give their time and skills to other church members in need, but don't know where the needs exist. Whether on a regular basis, or to be among a group of members helping a member out through a short-term crisis, or even just a one-time house-repair event.

I'm not experienced at starting things, and sometimes my ideas have so many holes in them they may as well be colanders. I do know that I am one of the many people who find it difficult to ask for help. And while there are areas where I could use help myself, there are many ways I am still able to provide help to others.

Such a "physical labor swap meet" place (there must be a good name for such a group?) might provide folks like that with a place to be able to ask for help AND for people to be able to feel good about being able to provide help to others. Feedback?

I'd love for women to comment here that have been to the spiritual retreat before. How did it impact you? What did you bring/wear/choose to do with the time. It helps us that haven't gone to get involved.

Also, any other Bible Studies up and running that have stories or things to share. Would love to hear some feedback from the groups about how it's going this fall.

Sorry I missed the yummy brunch.
I just had Bible study last night, and can I tell you what a huge blessing they are in my life? We are back after a summer apart, and I have missed them. Here's a shout-out to Angela, Leah, Lisa, Ela, Rachel, Rachel, Jordan, Suzanne, Katy....I am so grateful to have you with me on my journey of faith. And to Chelsea, Tricia and Stacia, we miss you and are excited to hear what God is doing in your life in Texas, Denver and Boulder.
