Townsend's latest prayer update:April 16th, 2009
Prayer Partners,

You have been praying that God would provide more space for Whitman Academy and He has answered! The owner of the building where Whitman meets has agreed to add a fourth floor to the building while school is out this summer. Thanks for praying. Now please pray for Mary and her staff as they finish the school year and get everything ready for a messy summer of construction.

Would you also please join us in prayer for the following needs:
* Mary must recruit six teachers for this coming fall. Right now, that looks pretty impossible, but we know God is able!

* We head to the eye surgeon this Saturday for a one-year check on Mary’s right eye. There are still problems with her vision, so pray insight and wisdom for the doctor.

* Jeff was diagnosed last week with a kidney stone he didn’t know he had! The doctor does not seem too concerned and wants to leave it alone for now. Pray for God’s sovereignty in this for, as we all know, this too shall pass.

* We leave Amman Monday 20 April for conferences in Europe. We will both attend the bi-annual Entrust All-Staff Conference in Sopron, Hungary April 20-26. Then Jeff returns to Amman and Mary travels on to Prague for a Christian school administrator’s conference. She returns to Amman on 4 May.

* May classes in Iraq are fast-approaching. Pray for Jeff’s preparation, that logistical details will come together, and especially for open borders.

Many thanks for your intercession which has sustained us these two years here in Amman, Jordan. We just signed a renewal of our apartment lease, so we are looking forward to another year of serving the Lord here in Amman!

Prayer update: October 18, 2009

Dear prayer partners,

Sorry that it has been over a month since our last Knee-mail update to you. Thank you for praying us through this busy time. Jeff’s ministry in Iraq went very well with no security problems and good ministry in both classes that were held. Praise God, and thanks for praying!

The minute Jeff got back he jumped into an intensive Arabic class at the Kelsey Language School here in Amman. The class has kept him quite busy and not just a little befuddled. Says he, “Arabic is for 25 year olds with functioning brain cells!” Praise God his teacher has been both encouraging and challenging.

Mary is doing incredibly well, all things considered. She really loves teaching third graders. Somehow, by God’s grace, she also manages to do special ed with several children and serve as chief administrator of Whitman Academy. An important meeting between the school board and parents focusing on the future needs of the school is scheduled for next Saturday (see request below).

In the days ahead, please lift up these items with us:

· Jeff’s Arabic studies.


· Personnel needs at Whitman Academy—third grade and secondary math/science teachers desperately needed!



· Whitman board and parents meeting Saturday 24 October to discuss development plans (i.e. the need to purchase land and move toward constructing a building Whitman would own).



· Entrust board meeting in Colorado Springs, October 29-31. This will be the first meeting with our new mission president, Dr. David Goodman. Pray for united hearts and clear direction from the Lord, especially as this may have bearing on our ministry in the Middle East.



· Fall Entrust meetings in Istanbul, November 4-8. This will be Jeff’s first opportunity to meet David Goodman and hear results from the Entrust board meeting.



Thanks for your faithful partnership in prayer. It is much needed and much appreciated. We continue to be amazed that our Lord has us in such a strategic place. We pray He will enable us to make the most of the opportunities before us!
