Greetings all: When my son Dan deployed to Afghanistan, I put together some thoughts to share with my family. I'll try to post them here from time to time. I hope they are an encouragement to you.

Anyway, there’s a Bible verse that I thought was particularly appropriate for today:
Psalm 37:4-5
Delight yourself in the LORD;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.

I think this passage reminds us, first of all, that we live in a fallen and difficult world. The only good, sure thing that we can rely on is the Lord Himself. He is good and knows the burdens that are on our hearts. By keeping our hearts and minds focused on Him and on His word, our burden is lightened. He will remain faithful to our loved ones who are in harm's way and to us regardless, but He is pleased when we put our trust in Him.

“Father, we lift before You our beloved warrior, and acknowledge that he is totally in Your hands. The desire of our heart is that he will perform his duties faithfully and honorably, and then return to us safely. Teach us how to find delight in You, our Lord, as we walk the difficult path You have placed before us. Help us to commit our every moment to You and to trust You completely. In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray.”

Whatever you think! I'm behind you and ready to get together so that I can support you all.
Did the meet and greet following church work well as far as turn-out was concerned?
I can certainly open my house or we an meet at one of the coffee places or - with kids - at the McDonald's so they can play.
I would be open to meeting w/ you two in order to make a plan if that would help.

That would be awesome. I was thinking maybe we could do another meet and greet after church again, and I could work on some more publicity before summer starts? Would love to have help with this. What do you think?

Jennifer - I'm a spouse of a retired military member so I think that makes me a retired military spouse . . .
How can I help here? I can pray, listen, cook, commiserate, and who knows what else!
Hugs and blessings to you!

Please feel free to comment. I'm not sure what direction to go in here. I don't have a meet up place or where to start. I was thinking maybe a playgroup? Let me know if you are interested.
