What happens when you pray so fervently for something to take place… for your course in life to shift in the direction you feel is best fitting for your future… when you get down on your knees in desperate, honest, humble prayer in search of a new life, a different and “better” plan… that never comes to fruition, or at least not in the way we had hoped or expected? If we are brave enough to insert the will of God into the prayer… to offer up with hands stretched out, our dream, our “plans” to our maker… to use and form into what HE wills for our life… If we are truly seeking the will of God amidst our plans… the truth is, we might be sorely disappointed in the way things turn out. We might not get our “happy ending” to the story of our dreams. However, if we pray in full security and trust of our risen savior, we can only conclude that the ending we received was the one intended by our loving God, the owner of our quilt of life; the one who sees in FULL view, the patchwork that is our life journey. We can take HOPE and security in the fact that we don’t truly know what’s best for our lives. That the struggles we suffer through make us cling desperately to our maker, author, and perfector of the life he breathed into us. I didn’t get my happy ending… but was it what I NEEDED? I can cling to the hope of my God. For he knows the plans that he has for me. Plans to prosper and not to harm me. Plans to give me HOPE and a future. It is in THIS I place my trust. With my head bowed, and tears that flood my eyes. You, my God, are my future. You are the hope that I cling to….

oh Sarah, so sorry to hear about this and to read the article about this big disappointment. thanks for sharing it, and i love the way you are honestly wrestling and releasing it to the Lord. sounds like you are in a good place of trust and submission. maybe laying down our dreams is one of the biggest ways we worship. thanks for honestly sharing about it here. you rock . . . and i think your voice is amazing. :)
My dear Sarah, I'm so sorry. But I'm proud of you for trying. For being so brave! You have an absolutely beautiful voice that glorifies God and amazes us all when you stand up on stage and sing during our worship times. He has something great in mind for you. I know it.
Thanks Kay & Laura! You both are too sweet! :)
Sarah, I have to say, girl, it's one thing to have a dream that doesn't come true, and quite another to have it splashed all over the Denver Post. But it is going beyond that into the remarkable to lay it all out there for everyone to read and see and (gasp) comment on. That kind of real is when God's glory shines...in your vulnerable, broken, questioning. It's real strength. It's real faith. It's your story. And I am humbled by it. Truly.
It reminds me of the story in the Bible of the woman who gave a meager offering of money to the church. Jesus noticed and commented to his disciples about her. Just a second later they were already pointing out architecture they were impressed with and amazed by, but Jesus' focus remained on the woman. He was impressed with her.
I wish we knew her name. We don't. I wish we knew her dreams, or the dreams that were long-forgotten and how she ended up with nothing. We don't. All we see is that she is still giving to God, and Jesus is amazed.
So, dear sister friend, I say sing. Sing on. Sing from your heart. And know that Jesus is amazed.
Brenda,
Thanks for the sweet note... :)
My dear sweet Sarah........ What a strong, sweet, women of God you are becoming...... I have been meaning to write my thoughts for some time, but my heart has not been able to put into words, just how proud I am of you. How you have given up your will, for His. How you have been willing to keep quite, when I know that everything that is within you wants to scream for your real story to be told, (for Him). But my sweet Sarah, when it is time, God brings everything into the light for His glory. I just want to thank you for setting the example, for being transparent, for falling down, getting back up, and giving God the glory!! For you see, you have been a example to so many....... to me......... I just wanted to tell you that........ and that I am so blessed, I get to call you, MY daughter, I couldn't love a daughter more............. Mom
