Here are some cool sites that I am aware of. Enjoy.

www.sethgodin.com
Seth is a marketing guy that always seems to have something interesting to say.

www.goodreads.com
An interesting social network to share great books. I just like having a list of all the books I have read, so when someone asks me I have a good list of my favorites.

www.flickr.com
Virtually an unlimited photo sharing site. Some have restricted use while others are public.

www.gapminder.org
This is a fascinating way to look at data over time. Pick two data dimensions and then look at global data over time.

www.trendwatching.com
A comprehensive view to trends primarily in retail, but in other areas as well. Interesting insights into changing business models as well. Many trends that related to new ways to approach problems. Tons of links to interesting stuff.

www.thepoint.com
A social networking site that allows you to post an idea, such as raising money for a cause, or creating some other community action. Others can then say they will participate. When critical mass occurs, the site notifies everyone to take the agreed upon action.

www.threadless.com
A tee shirt site where anyone can submit a tee shirt design. When enough people vote on it, then it gets made into a tee shirt available for sale. Very funny tee shirt ideas.

www.wefeelfine.org
Web art that monitors blogs in real time for feeling words. These are then presented in artistic ways for the viewer. Worth the exploration.

www.number27.org
Here is an index of Jonathan Harris' work (We Feel Fine) with his website art. The Universe and the Whale Hunt are web art experiments playing with the concepts of time and news.

www.ted.com
A forum of videos of experts in their fields. I recommend undersea mysteries and the one by Billy Graham. Hours and hours could be spent here.

www.christiantoday.com
Social justice, poverty and news that relates to the global church.

www.ashesandsnow.org
If you click on the enhanced experience you can see a very interesting web navigation based on exploration instead of an organized presentation. Interesting art, but some of the art reflects animistic religious practices and can feel a little uncomfortable.

www.gigapan.org
Don't miss this. It is simply too cool. These single images are constructed with up to thousands of high resolution images and create an exploration experience that is very entertaining. Check out the snipers on the roof at the inauguration or find the climbers on Yosemite.

www.travelpod.com/traveler-iq
This quiz lets you test your geography knowledge. It is a little addicting so be careful. I have completed level 10, just in case you are interested.

www.freerice.com
Another addictive one, but at least this one is beneficial to someone. This is a thesaurus game, and for every one you get right, 10 grains of rice are given to the UN World Food Program to end hunger.

Do a Google Image search on the search term Steampunk -
This yields a very interesting design approach that tries to envision how Jules Verne would create modern objects.

www.webtrendmap.com
I haven't done much exploring on this one, but it looks pretty cool.

www.bookcrossing.com
This is a website where you can register a book that you are finished with and then leave it in a public space. If you are looking for a book you can pick it up from a public space read it, and then re-register it to a public space. You can see where books have traveled and whether they were liked by their readers.

Steve, this is fantastic!
If you haven't been to www.tripadvisor.com, you must go!

It's travelers helping other travelers with their vacations and getaways. There are destination experts who live in the area you are planning to visit that can help you make the best of your trip. See real photos from hotels, tourist sites, hikes, anything really. No one gets paid for their opinion, but the advise comes from travelers who have "Been There, Done That" and have learned a little something along the way.
Want to know if the restaurant you have picked to eat at is any good? Want to see if you have enough time to squeeze in the events you have planned? Planning a trip to a place you have never been, but don't know what to do when you get there? Hoping for a moderate hike in a new place? You can find it all. The site offers deals for hotels, airfare, and more. And, you can customize your needs and wants all the way from "5-star extravagant" to "on the cheap." It's a lot of fun to read the blogs and see the photos of other travelers.

Not all who wander are lost.
Happy trails!
Brenda
Here's an independent artist who has some free music...

make sure and check out "code monkey" (slang for computer programmer), it's one of my favorites.
www.hulu.com

this site has many old and new TV series to watch. You need a fast connection but with limited or no commercials it's a great way to watch "TV".
BTW, Seth Godin rocks!
Pandora. www.pandora.com is a great website. OK I am a late adopter on this one. It has been out for a while, but those of you that listen to music on your computer, this thing is awesome. First, its free and mostly commercial free. You put in a song or an artist and it DJs your station for you. Surprising you with great music that totally fits your original song or artist. Give it a go.

I have an iphone app for Pandora which is also free. Very cool concept.

Found an amazing web site called ted.com. It's talks/lectures on many different topics from many excellent speakers. Very thought provoking and some are extremely funny.
Oh... did you find it in my original post above? You must have done a lot of digging for that one. What about Gapminder and trendwatching? Did you find those yet in my original post?

smiling, Steve
