House Of Prayer
I've been thinking about how significant House of Prayer was on Wednesday, for our church, and for me personally and I thougth I would share a little of what I saw that night.

It was significant that so many were able to be there, that felt vibrant, unified and like it mattered to our church. It was a gift that all the pastors and elders a lots of lay leaders were there. That gave me the same feeling I used to get when I would wake up early and see my dad praying, there's quiet strength in that.

The meal ahead of time was an important time of togetherness. Who knew there were so many different kinds of potato soup???

Kelley did such a great job of telling us all what the plan for evening was and then gave all of us such freedom that it didn't have to look anything like that. She challenged us to think through why we had come, why it was necessary for each of us.

The worship perfectly led us into the time of scripture. As I listened to each passage and soaked them all in, it felt like a fresh wind was blowing through. It was pure worship. We were all in that place, worshipping the Holy of Holies together, through speaking back to Him what He's spoken to us. There is unparalleled power in that, isn't there?

Then came the actual time of prayer, which again was so beautifully set up for us. There was no pressure for anyone to pray out loud if they weren't comfortable with it, we were given complete freedom to go alone or with someone, to stay where we were or to move. When the groups began praying, the was a quiet murmuring heard throughout the room. Each voice clearly audible to our Maker. There was a group that looked like they were swept away in worship of their Creator, while another was weeping with a broken-hearted sister. It was powerful to be part of and personally impacting for me.

If you were a part of the night, I hope it was impactful for you too. If you weren't there, try not to miss the next one. It's worth juggling your schedule to be there.

I am so sorry I missed it and look forward to being IN THE HOUSE with you again soon, Carol. It is one of my favorite places to be.
