One of the greatest attributes God designed into music is the fact that, "There are no winners or losers, only players and listeners".

I am definitely the listener!!
But you could be both ;o)
I don't know man. American Idol has seemed to make alot of money on winners and losers when it comes to music. However I must admit is sure is fun listening to both the winners and the losers of that show!
So I guess if the American Idol show is on your radar, thats probably true.. :o)
I just thank God for music...one of His greatest gifts. And I revere those who create it.
God's design of music and the human ear is very fascinating. I have a book that teach how mathematical music really is. I find that very cool and again its got GOD's hands all over it.
art is like that, there are those who make it and those who enjoy it. It's amazing how, after all these years, new songs are still being written and recorded with just the same notes and chords.

About Music in the Bible

About Music in the Bible

Just as much as any major theological issue, music has been and continues to be a controversial issue throughout the history of the church. Rock music, for example, offends some church members as much as it inspires others. Certain worshipers even choose to align themselves with one denomination over another simply because the music it chooses to play appeals to them. Is one type of music more appropriate to God than another? In the midst of debate, the Bible is worth referring to on this subject.

History
Song provides an opportunity for remembrance in the Bible. Not only does it allow for worship, but it also supplies inspiration by drawing attention to a history of victories in the midst of gains and losses. Many times throughout the Bible, the people of Israel turned to song in order to affirm their hopes for the future in spite of hardships suffered in the past. A perfect example of this use of song is in the book of Isaiah: ". . . The people will sing this song in Judah: We have a strong city. God protects us with its strong walls and defenses (Isaiah 26:1)."

Function
Just as they are today, songs were a staple of some of the earliest religious services referred to in the Bible. The book of Psalms serves to collect many such songs, with brief descriptions to the music director occasionally left intact: "For the director of music. With stringed instruments. Upon the Sheminith (Psalm 6)." In fact, under David's reign, a certain family was appointed to supervise music-making for the Temple: "Herman directed all his sons in making music for the Temple of the Lord with cymbals, lyres, and harps . . . (1 Chronicles 25:6)" Furthermore, in Christ's era, music was essential to the spiritual well-being of the early church, as suggested by the Apostle Paul's exhortation: "Speak to each other with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your hearts to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19)."

Benefits
In the Bible, music serves the purpose of defense for believers. In the midst of battle, both Joshua and Gideon relied on trumpets just as much as they did weapons. When attacking the city of Jericho, Joshua's account states: "At the sound of the trumpets and the people's shout, the walls fell, and everyone ran straight into the city (Joshua 6:20)." Similarly, the sound of trumpets benefited Gideon and his army: "When Gideon's 300 men blew their trumpets, the Lord made all the Midianites fight each other with their swords (Judges 7:22)!"

Significance
Songs present the promise of freedom in the Bible. They are frequently used in times of crisis, as a form of release. They represent the ability of the human spirit to create harmony from chaos. For example, when the Christian missionaries Paul and Silas were imprisoned by Roman officials for trying to spread the gospel of Christ, the two men kept their spirits up by singing songs of worship: "About midnight Paul and Silas were singing and singing songs to God as the other prisoners listened (Acts 16:25)." Just as they were in the middle of singing, an earthquake shook the jail where they were being held. In a sense, their fervent worship itself gave them their freedom: "Then all the doors of the jail broke open, and all the prisoners were freed from their chains (Acts 16:26)."
Potential

In the Bible, a song's beauty is representative of a state of wisdom. Songs carry the power of salvation, and people who receive this salvation also receive a new song in their hearts. The book of Revelation, written by the Apostle John, describes a song heard by the Apostle in a revelatory vision. Accompanied by harplike sounds from heaven, people sang the new song before the throne of God, and "no one could learn the new song" except a chosen few "who had been brought from the earth (Revelation 14:2-3)." This song contains the potential of growth and improvement.
